Hey, all. It's been a while since my last post. I've been very busy.

The status of The Beauty King is:

Tied up in Audio. We are still waiting to throw the music together, and then I'll have some other editors look at it before we start screening it. It could potentially be done in three weeks!!!

But, it looks really good, and I think it will look cool in the end.

I know it's supposed to be funny...

So... we might have a change of plans...

Hey, all. We are still planning to shoot the scenes with King Andy alone and at home late this month.

We had a lot of technical problems with the Celebrity Bar scene, and I am now having trouble getting us back into the same location to reshoot it. We have three options:

1. Cut the scene down so much that it makes very little sense, but the visuals are usable.

2. Reshoot everything in another location.

3. Cut the scene out entirely and find another way to fix the hole it leaves.

Basically, I might just shoot the rest of the movie, and see what works, and how bad the footage looks against the other footage we get. Right now, I believe our best bet is to reshoot the whole scene in another location. I have a couple in mind, but if anyone has an idea, please email me!

The Beauty King is still in production. We have about one more weekend of shooting left, but scheduling is proving to be somewhat of a challenge. It's looking like late June, and we will be documenting the home life of King Andy.

We also hope to be reshooting the scenes from the glorious coffee shop known as Cupcake, and hopefully we will be able to get all of the actors to come back to help us out with that.

So, we survived the 14-hour day on Sunday. Thanks everyone, everyone rocks!

Jim, Pat and Dan, thanks so much for your help and equipment contributions on Sunday. We couldn't have done this without ya!

And, of course, Beth, Eric, Allen, Marie, Annie, Jane, Sara and the Aveda girls, Jazz and Erin... hope I'm not forgetting anyone. You all just plain rock.

And -thanks everyone for being so awesome with all of those kids. I LOVE the glitter girls' makeup, that was really cool!

The first shoot is at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown on Sunday, March 13th, 2005, from 1pm-5pm. There is parking available on the street, which is free, and three parking lots in Dinkytown if you can't find a space on the street.

This is a very short shooting day, but the scene is very important! It is the flashback scene referenced by photos and in the rest of the short movie.

Yeah, I creepily bought about 20 plastic crowns from the dollar store. Most were only 75 cents, though.

Working on the shotlist tonight -next week more communicating with cast/crew, and also seeking some business-minded folks. Hurrah!

Time to start throwing out the screenplay...

It's pretty much done. On Thanksgiving, I got the two principal actors together, to see how some scenes would (or would not) work. I think we've got it. And, when we shoot, maybe we'll do one improv take and one solid take. But, that's later.

So, today is Saturday... Sunday, I'll start sending the screenplay to important people. Mainly, the director of photography, Vince, and Allen. I need more crew and cast, too. I'll be more organized when I get locations and dates figured out.

The following week, seeking out business people and additional crew. Wow, this is a lot of work!

We will SO get this done!!

Beauty King has liftoff...

Ok, I have a grant contract, so the equipment is covered. Thank you, IFP.

We've got a Director of Photography, four actors, a make-up artist, a costume supervisor, 4 tiaras, 2 crowns, 2 sceptors, and a mostly ready script. Well, it will be done by Thanksgiving. It better be, two of the actors are going to need it then.

So, the week after Thanksgiving, I will be papering the Carlson School of Management with flyers: "Want to work in the movie business? Make your connections now!" Whoever shows up can simply watch our budget or go investment hunting. Beggars can't be choosers. But, assuming there is an interest, what business major wouldn't seek out money, if I told them they'd be the first to get paid?

In the next week; I'll be fixing up the script, printing out legal releases, and maybe even register my production company with the state of Minnesota.

I plan to use this blog to keep my cast and crew up to date.
